According to AS newspaper, if Courtois signs a new contract with Real Madrid, Lu Ning might consider a transfer. 

In the 23/24 season, due to Kúrtová's cruciate ligament injury, Lu Ning started 31 games for Real Madrid and helped the team win the Champions League title once again. His outstanding performance also earned him a contract extension until 2030. 

During the 24/25 season, with the return of Courtois, Lu Ning only played 14 times for Real Madrid, including 5 games in the Copa del Rey (except for all the matches in the final against Barcelona), 7 games in La Liga and 2 games in the Champions League. He also played as a substitute in the UEFA Super Cup, the Spanish Super Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the Club World Cup. In fact, Lu Ning's starting appearances in both La Liga and the Copa del Rey were made when Courtois was injured, with only two exceptions, against Sevilla and Real Sociedad, when the title was already certain. 

"ASPO" reported: "Kurtov's contract will expire on June 30, 2026. However, his contract extension is currently in progress. Given that Lu Ning has been repositioned as a substitute, there is no doubt that he may leave. If a proposal that can attract all parties involved is presented, it will be considered, evaluated and a decision will be made."
