At 9 o'clock Beijing time on June 26th, in the third round of the Club World Cup Group E, Inter Milan played against River Plate. Neither team scored in the first half. In the second half, Musichalyn caused Quarta to receive a red card and be sent off. Francesco Espostioto scored a goal. In the injury time, Bastoni scored the winning goal, securing Inter Milan a 2-0 victory over River Plate. Montiel received his second yellow card in the final moments of the game and was sent off. Ultimately, Inter Milan won 2-0 and qualified as the top team in Group E. The Black and Blue team will face Fluminense from Brazil in the 1/8 final. River Plate ranked third in Group E and was unfortunately eliminated.

In the 11th minute of the first half, Di Marco made a long pass, and Aslani took a shot from the penalty area but his shot went over the crossbar. In the 12th minute, Mastantono received a cross from Alindro and took a slightly adjusted shot from a distance, which was saved by Sommer. In the 20th minute, Acunaia made a cross, and Collidio headed the shot but it went wide. 

At the 25th minute, Barrella made a triangular pass to the center of the penalty area, and Esposito headed the ball but it was blocked by the defending player and went out of bounds. Then, after a corner kick by Inter, Achterbi headed the ball but it went wide. At the 31st minute, Mushtabian broke through the defenders in the midfield and sent a direct pass, but Lautaro-Martinelli stopped the ball and pushed it towards the goal but it went out of bounds. At the 43rd minute, Di Marco sent a cross from the left side, and Esposito charged forward to take the point but was disturbed by the defenders and kicked the ball out of bounds. 

In the second half, both teams resumed play. In the 51st minute, Lautaro dribbled past the defenders and shot from inside the penalty area, but the ball hit the goalpost and bounced off. In the 52nd minute, Mshitaian's shot from the center of the penalty area was blocked, and Di Marco's far-range shot from the edge of the penalty area went wide of the goal line. In the 61st minute, Mastantono's long-range shot from outside the penalty area flew towards the stands. In the 63rd minute, Acuna's cross found Montero, who headed the ball but was saved by Sommer. In the 66th minute, the last defender of River Plate, Quarta, deflected Mshitaian's rapid forward run with a tackle from the rear side, and the referee showed him a red card to send him off directly. River Plate was left with only 10 players on the field to defend. 

At the 72nd minute, Susic received a direct pass from Aslani and broke into the penalty area, then passed the ball. Francesco Espostioto, who had space to move, shot and scored, giving Inter a 1-0 lead. At the 78th minute, Lančini made a cross, and Borja followed up but his shot went high. At the 89th minute, Susic made a direct pass, and Mushitauman broke into the penalty area and took a low shot but missed. 

In the 3rd minute of the injury time, Bastoni dribbled past two players and scored a goal, sealing the victory. Ultimately, Inter Milan won 2-0 against River Plate. Montiel was shown the second yellow card in the final minute of the injury time due to a conflict between the two teams and was sent off.
