Live Sports News 7/11: According to Bild, Dortmund has set a price tag of between 65 million and 70 million euros for Adjei-Meyi.
The media reported that Dortmund has firmly responded to the recent transfer rumors. The previous report by Gazzetta dello Sport stated that Juventus plans to acquire Adiyemi and are willing to pay between 40 million and 50 million euros for this Dortmund attacker. Additionally, Newcastle United from the Premier League and Chelsea have also expressed their interest.
Adjemiyi joined Borussia Dortmund from Salzburg in 2022 for 30 million euros. His current contract expires in 2027, and his transfer fee is 45 million euros. However, Bild newspaper learned that the management team led by General Manager Ricken and Sports Director Kell has decided that negotiations will only commence when the transfer fee offer reaches 65 to 70 million euros.
Dortmund adopted the same tough negotiation strategy towards Adiyemi as it did for Jitens: The Blues had offered 55 million euros for the latter but the offer was rejected. Eventually, Dortmund managed to close the deal for 65 million euros.
It makes sense for the management to set a price for Adjeymi that is no lower than that of Gittens: his level of development and maturity far exceeds that of Gittens. He has consistently been a key player under coach Kovac and has taken on more leadership responsibilities since last season. Recently, he has also transformed into a striker and formed a perfect partnership with top scorer Giras.
After the long-term absence of 19-year-old star Julian Durandour, Dortmund was even more unable to bear the loss of Adjeiemy. Unlike last summer (when Adjeiemy was linked with Napoli and changed his agency), he clearly emphasized his sense of belonging to Dortmund not long ago: "I have always loved this club! I have been a fan of Dortmund since I was a child, and my family is also a fan!"
