Spanish media: Terstegen did not participate in Barcelona's first training session. Both sides may engage in a protracted battle this summer | Garcia | Gerrard | Barcelona team | Mark André Terstegen | Mark-André Terstegen

German goalkeeper Marc-André Threlstongen did not appear on the training field on the first day of training. Instead, he stayed in the gym. His condition seems to be moving in a dangerous direction, showing a trend of complication.
In the first training session, Terstegen became the center of attention. Unlike his teammates, he did not appear at the No. 1 venue of the Sports City but conducted individual training in the gym. The club issued a brief statement saying that the captain "is currently undergoing individual physical training in the gym, separate from the team."
Usually, such a situation would not attract much attention or be regarded as major news. However, given the current context - the club was trying to find a way out for Terstegen after signing Joaquin Garcia, and last week Terstegen met with the head coach Hansi Flick, where they confirmed their differences - this German player's decision not to participate in on-field training seems to mark the beginning of a drawn-out battle, and the outcome is currently unpredictable.
Obviously, the club cannot maintain the situation of having four goalkeepers on the team. Therefore, at present, Terstegen and Iñaki Peña have been excluded by the coaching staff and are now favored by the team for signing Joan García, who was signed from Espanyol for a 25 million euro penalty fee this summer, as well as Wojciech Szczesny, who has a contract extension until 2027. However, from the very beginning, Terstegen clearly expressed his desire to stay with the team and compete for the starting position with other goalkeepers, although Flick has informed him that he will start as the third goalkeeper.
It seems that there will still be many more chapters to be written in this summer transfer drama, but it is clear that the first act has already kept this goalkeeper away from the team's regular training sessions.
The other players participated in the training normally, including the injured Mark Bernard and Gerard Martin, who also attended, although the training intensity on that day was quite high and focused on physical fitness.
The team arranged two training sessions on Tuesday. This was the first of three training sessions this week, and there will be no rest day during this period. It's worth noting that on July 24th, the team will set off for Japan to start the Asian Tour. Whether Terstegen is included or not remains to be seen.
